Thus, despite the growth of real GDP, and per capita GDP, the absolute value of per capita income is still low relative to other more advanced APEC members. China is one of the largest economies in APEC as measured by nominal GDP. The United States and Japan rank first and second, respectively, immediately followed by China with USD2,554 billion earned in 2005 (see Figure 1.5). 5
