Adoption of Oracle® Database 11g continues across all industries and
regions, Oracle announced today.
Organizations such as Angelcom, Comic Relief, Interactive One, and
ProQuest, have implemented Oracle Database 11g to power their
enterprise applications.




Based in Bogotá, Colombia, Angelcom S.A. is a leader in collections
technology for Mass Passenger Transit systems. The company
developed, implemented and maintains the IT platform and collections
procedures for Bogotá’s mass transit system – TransMilenio. Angelcom
S.A. migrated to Oracle Database 11g to deliver a highly available, robust
infrastructure in support of TransMilenio. With Oracle Database 11g,
Oracle Partitioning and Oracle Advanced Security, Angelcom S.A.
improved online access to real-time transit system data across the
organization, reduced the time to backup their transactions by 95 percent,
and further secured the transit system’s 4.5 million daily transactions,
respectively. Angelcom S.A. also deployed Oracle Business Intelligence
Suite Standard Edition One to improve the analysis of operational data
and accelerate decision-making.
Comic Relief is a U.K.-based charitable organization working to end
poverty and social injustice by raising funds through the power of
entertainment. The charity’s upgrade to a clustered Oracle Database 11g
system has enabled it to increase the speed of its transaction processing,
improve service to donors, and drive IT innovation. Specifically, Comic
Relief has reduced its reliance on third-party vendor tools and skill sets, to
cut system management overhead through the use of Oracle Database
11g’s automated database management capabilities.
Interactive One is the digital division of Radio One, Inc. (NASDAQ:ROIAK
and ROIA). The division has deployed Oracle Database 11g, Oracle
Unbreakable Linux, Oracle VM, and Oracle Enterprise Manager to power
the infrastructure for its fast growing social networking and media
properties. Spanning 10 Web sites, including the popular
BlackPlanet.com, the largest online community for African Americans,
Interactive One provides a rich, integrated online experience for more than
25 million users delivering six hundred fifty million full-page views per
month. Oracle Database 11g, along with Oracle Partitioning and
advanced database features such as connection pooling, has helped to

improve the performance of Interactive One’s databases and enable them
to scale to support many more Web servers than ever before.

ProQuest introduced a new application – Reference Linking – running on
Oracle Database 11g and Oracle Real Application Clusters. ProQuest
Reference Linking enables users to open up new paths in their research.

articles, and see what other articles in the ProQuest platform are citing
them. ProQuest anticipates it will upgrade its ProQuest product to Oracle
Database 11g with Oracle Real Application Clusters by end of calendar
year 2009.
