Ethics of Experimentation Report
Directions
 From the experiments listed below, choose the one that interests you the most.
– Tuskegee Experiment
– Mengele Experiments
– Vacanti Mouse Experiment
– Guatemala Syphilis Experiment
– Unit 731
– Project MKUltra
– Dolly the Sheep
– Other Experiments (approved by me)
 Once you have chosen your topic, research information using the Internet AND the library (either public or
school). You MUST have at least one NON-INTERNET source. If you are having trouble locating a nonInternet source on your topic, notify me immediately.
 Write at least a three page report detailing your topic. First, describe the experiment itself. Include information
such as why the experiment took place, and details from the experiment (give some historical background).
Then, discuss the ethical and moral concerns of the experiment (were the major problems with the treatment of
the subjects, what were the overall concerns with the experiment as a whole, and what ethical principles were
violated). Finally, write about the aftermath of the experiment (how were the subjects affected, how did the
public react when the experiment was revealed, what happened to the researchers and/or test subjects). There is,
of course, room for your personal opinion in this report, but the focus should be on the facts of the experiment
and the resulting ethical implications.
 The written report MUST BE TYPED (double spaced, size 12 type, Times New Roman font, one-inch margins
on each side) and must also include a title page and a PROPER citation page, listing all of the sources for your
information. You MUST have at least three sources: one non-Internet source and two Internet sites
(WIKIPEDIA DOES NOT COUNT!!!).
 Copying and pasting information from ANY SOURCE and passing it off as your work is plagiarism.
PLAGIARISM IS STEALING!!! Any report that is plagiarized will receive an AUTOMATIC ZERO!!!
 This report is worth 150 points. For each requirement that is NOT met (less than three pages, no bibliography,
no title page, incorrect type size and font, etc.), TEN POINTS will be deducted from the final grade.
