Carried Governance Fall Dinner -- reservations made at Y Club Garrison for September 14. Details and reservation form will be sent to Barb Linn for inclusion in August newsletter. Rick asked board members for their opinions on setting out signs to remind people of dinner. Due to early reservation requirement, is this still necessary? Board opinion is yes; place the signs - need to have reminders out for this. Will put reminder on website and email. By-laws: board members who volunteered to be on revision committee will meet, will then have additional meeting to include all board members. Healthy Lakes Curly leaf pondweed treatments have been applied - approximately 26 acres throughout the 4-lake area. Grant will take care of $100 per acre up to $2600. Last treatment covered 26 acres throughout the four bodies of water -- will pay that and forward to grant administrators. Notification of treatment is usually a sign on the property, and notice at the public access. A few property owners showed interest in restoration projects after hearing presentation at Welcome back to the Lakes. Recently notified that PCLIA will receive additional $10,000 for shoreline projects; they were very impressed with work already completed. Water testing: Clayton White will complete sampling requirements. Hans accompanied him on the May trip. Welcome back to the Lakes: attendance down, but had excellent presentations from Heather (DNR) and Shelley Larson (Hayland Nurseries). Sandy Solom offered that attendance may have been down due to the date of the meeting (weekend following Memorial Day) Channel dig: Gary spoke to Hans; we can no longer dump sand on the Miller property due to previous shoreline plantings. Shirley asked if there were required reports that needed to be filed for these projects. Fish Management Jeff reported that there were 66 participants in the Take a Kid Fishing Day; with parents and others, about 200 total. Walleye stocking is tentatively planned for this fall. Approximate cost is $6900; need about $1700 additional to meet goal. Jeff still needs to contact the hatchery to set a date. Can we obtain a donation from the general fund in order to meet our goal? Motion made by Gary to determine amount in stocking fund after the next Shoreline goes out and we receive additional donations, then association can decide to cover remainder. Seconded by Clayton White Passed Fish Fry is Saturday, August 3. Information will be in the association newsletter and on the website. Membership: Have 178 paid memberships for 2013 Navigation: New buoys have been ordered and Ed will install. Discussed possibility of having installation and removal hired out as Ed is sometimes out of the state/country during install times. Concerns regarding boats traveling too close to shore --safety and ecosystem concerns. Address in the newsletter. Also address the plantings at Miller property -- pontoons parked at channel entrance. Nomination: Steve Swantz is accepting names for President-Elect position. Social Chair: Sandy is here only part of the year so would be difficult to chair this position. Rick will talk to Jill Gilgosh to see what her thoughts are. Channel Dig: Barb Vann has arranged with DNR, need to call them about 5 days beforehand. Father's Day weekend or last weekend in June? Leaning towards weekend of June 29/30; hoping for lower water level Old Business: Committees submit 2014 budgets at October meeting Directory: Steve Swantz starting this by going through county records Non-profit status: still waiting! New Business Brief discussion regarding possible pig roast as future social event. Cannot go forward until we have members who can commit to planning and/or work under Social Chair umbrella. Could also then revive the pontoon parade if interest and leadership. Gary met with rep from Bay Lake Association; they have a monitoring program at their public access....would PCLIA be interested or able to do the same thing at our access? Discussion....agreed it would be difficult to expect volunteers to man the access for hours at a time. Discussion on future board meetings....sometimes difficult to attend on Saturdays - agreed to keep the Saturday meetings for this year (Aug 10 & October 15) then determine a possible schedule that will include alternative Saturdays and weekdays for meetings. Jeff mentioned to the group that George Jukish has been cleaning out the culvert on Highway 6 that goes between Bay Lake / Maple Lake. Has been doing this for a few years on his own. Rick will write a letter of thanks to him on behalf of PCLIA, and deliver it to him personally. Motion to adjourn by Clayton White; seconded by Gary Anderson Meeting adjourned 11:30am
