Salzburg Forum

The Salzburg Forum (SF), or Salzburg Group, is a cooperation among the regional Interior Ministers of eight European countries. It was founded by the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Austria in 2000. The countries currently meeting are Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Romania. The Forum is a venue for coordinating internal security matters among the eight countries: police cooperation, border checks, illegal migration, asylum issues, etc.Groups which had similar goals, such as the Quantico Groups and the Berne Group, though even more secretive than the Salzburg Forum, could be considered its predecessors. More influential groups as the G6 can be deemed as its peer. The following article is a mosaic on the SF based mainly on materials which could be found on the internet in English, German or Hungarian and partially on documents requested under the freedom of information act from the Hungarian Ministry of the Interior.
