... The neutrino experimental facility at J-PARC was built to produce the world’s highest intensity neutrino beam and to facilitate leading research into neutrino physics. Its beam power is rated at 750 kW. In 2013, the facility was operated at 230 kW, which led to the first-ever definitive observation ...

gravitational interaction of fermions

... shown that if gravitational interaction is taken into account, the question whether a free neutrino is two- or four-component acquires a physical meaning. The vertex part for the interaction between fermions and the gravitational field is shown to possess properties analogous to those o£ the electro ...

Beta Decay
Beta Decay

... The discovery of the beta decay process is credited to Lord Rutherford, who was the first to show that beta particles are electrons (for the beta-minus process). As early as 1911, Lise Meitner demonstrated that beta particles are emitted with a continuous range of energies. This seemed to violate th ...

... Used to calculate neutrino production rates and detection cross sections. If applied to neutrino production, implies that the neutrino 4-momentum p = (E, p~) can be determined from the 4-momenta of all other particles participating in the production process. E.g. for π → µ + ν decay: if 4-momenta of ...

Super-Kamiokande

Super-Kamiokande (full name: Super-Kamioka Neutrino Detection Experiment, abbreviated to Super-K or SK) is a neutrino observatory located under Mount Kamioka near the city of Hida, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. The observatory was designed to search for proton decay, study solar and atmospheric neutrinos, and keep watch for supernovae in the Milky Way Galaxy.
