A New Design for Low Voltage Microfluidic Pumps
A New Design for Low Voltage Microfluidic Pumps

... The purpose of this project is to fabricate and test a new design for electro-osmotic (EO) pumps. This new design will use low voltages to provide relatively high volume flow through microfluidic channels. Such microfluidic channels and pumps can be used to process fluids in biomedical applications. ...

... Let us consider two plates having the same area, laying parallel to each other: let the space between them be filled with a fluid (either gas or liquid). This is counterintuitive as we know that if a high velocity fluid hits us (e.g. a water canon), then the pressure on us is large. We have to carefully distinguish betw ...

Flow measurement

Flow measurement is the quantification of bulk fluid movement. Flow can be measured in a variety of ways.Positive-displacement flow meters accumulate a fixed volume of fluid and then count the number of times the volume is filled to measure flow. Other flow measurement methods rely on forces produced by the flowing stream as it overcomes a known constriction, to indirectly calculate flow. Flow may be measured by measuring the velocity of fluid over a known area.
