Inheritance of Organelle DNA Sequences in a Citrus–Poncirus

... The apparent segregation of the intergeneric F1 progeny with respect to the P. trifoliata mtDNA configurations suggested that these configurations resulted from influence of the nuclear genome. Nuclear alleles might alter mtDNA organization in the progeny, producing P. trifoliata configurations. Alt ...

Characterization of the trans-spliced transcriptome and polycistronic

... In nematodes, spliced leader (SL) trans-splicing is associated with processing of polycistronic transcription units (PTU) into translatable mRNAs. Although SL trans-splicing is employed by all major lineages of flatworms, extensive information on the trans-spliced transcriptome in these organisms or ...

Experimental Evolution and the Krogh Principle

... Transgenic studies, however, frequently have several limitations that restrict their general interpretation and utility. For instance, they often involve the modification of only a single gene at a time. While such studies can provide considerable insight into the functioning of that gene, they are ...

New technologies to assess genotype–phenotype

... Figure 1 | Genotypic and phenotypic maps. A phenotypic map (yellow) can be generated to correspond to any genomic map (green). Quantitative PCR for the Detection of BCR
Quantitative PCR for the Detection of BCR

... Quantitative PCR has been demonstrated (9, 10). Many studies have confirmed that sequential analysis of residual disease by Q-PCR for BCR-ABL transcripts has the advantage of monitoring the dynamics of CML. Performed at regular intervals, Q-PCR can indicate the activity of a malignant clone, thus pr ...

Nutriepigenomics

Nutriepigenomics is the study of food nutrients and their effects on human health through epigenetic modifications. There is now considerable evidence that nutritional imbalances during gestation and lactation are linked to non-communicable diseases, such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, and cancer. If metabolic disturbances occur during critical time windows of development, the resulting epigenetic alterations can lead to permanent changes in tissue and organ structure or function and predispose individuals to disease.
