... voltage of 3.5 V for continuous operation showed that the emitted light intensity was stable over 74 h without decay compared to a lifetime of only a few hours reported for amorphous film cells.3,4 ITO/Ru(bpy)3Cl2(xyl)/ITO was also fabricated for comparison. Since Ru(bpy)3Cl2 is highly soluble in wa ...

... One way of label-free sensing is by using optical techniques, where in general an optical waveguide confines an electromagnetic wave in such a way that it can interact with a test sample. The electromagnetic wave may be a traveling or a standing wave, depending on the sensor configuration, but in bo ...

Self-Organization, Broken Symmetry, and Lasing in an Atomic Vapor:

... The generation of coherent short-wavelength radiation from relativistic particle beams often requires the efficient direction reversal of optical radiation such as occurs in the free-electron laser. One efficient strategy for implementing this idea is to backdiffract pump radiation from a moving ato ...

... OPTICS is study of propagation of light. In Geometric optics we are just concerned about, what the path of light is when it gets reflected or refracted. While dealing with Geometric optics we consider light rays to e paraxial i.e. which re very near to each other and thus a lot of assumptions could ...

Thomas Young (scientist)

Thomas Young (13 June 1773 – 10 May 1829) was an English polymath and physician. Young made notable scientific contributions to the fields of vision, light, solid mechanics, energy, physiology, language, musical harmony, and Egyptology. He ""made a number of original and insightful innovations""in the decipherment of Egyptian hieroglyphs (specifically the Rosetta Stone) before Jean-François Champollion eventually expanded on his work. He was mentioned by, among others, William Herschel, Hermann von Helmholtz, James Clerk Maxwell, and Albert Einstein. Young has been described as ""The Last Man Who Knew Everything"".
