... Interference effects and diffraction result in “ringing” and spreading outside the aperture. Edges of image rise gradually (not abrupt) from zero. Intensity of image oscillates about the expected intensity. Oscillations decay as one approaches the center of the image. The oscillations are due to con ...

... vectors to k (say l and m) then the off-diagonal components of the first term in the brackets on the RHS of the correlation function (eq.1) are zero. It then turns out that bl and bm are simply generated directly according to S(k) while bk is zero (eq.3). In order to introduce helicity, two more mut ...
My Research about the silicon photonics
My Research about the silicon photonics

... Photonics is the technology of signal processing, transmission and detection where the signal is carried by photons (light) and it is already heavily used in photonic devices such as lasers, waveguides or optical fibers. Optical technology has always suffered from its reputation for being an expensi ...

Adjusting the Brillouin spectrum in optical fibers for slow and fast
Adjusting the Brillouin spectrum in optical fibers for slow and fast

... process generates a loss in the fiber (anti-Stokes absorption). Here we will show how the bandwidth, slope and gain of the Brillouin spectrum can be adapted to the given application by a superposition of Stokes amplification lines with anti Stokes losses. We discuss experimental results for the enha ...

Zeeman Effect - UCI Physics and Astronomy

... was later successfully observed by Zeeman, for whom the effect was named. This advanced laboratory employs a Fabry-Perot interferometer, a high-resolution spectroscopic instrument. It produces a fringe pattern when a light beam hits and transmits through and/or reflects off its mirrors causing inter ...

... positions of the cell with respect to the focus are calculated: one with the cell in the converging beam, with zc=-25 cm, the other with the input pinhole in the focus, i.e. zc=7 cm. Here zc represents the distance from the focus to the cell input pinhole. As one can see, the field configuration is ...

The Intensity of Ligand Absorption - TopSCHOLAR

... The electronic states of some centrosymmetric polyatomic molecules have gerade (even) character. We would predict the transition moment, R, to be zero for transitions between such states (zero absorption intensity) because the direct product of two g functions in R (Eq. 6) can never span any ungerad ...

FTIR absorption study of hydroxyl ions in KHo(WO4)2 - DT

... The presence of OH– bands can be justified by the isotopic exchange process. High temperature treatments in heavy water vapour atmosphere generally result in the appearance of OD– bands in the crystals. Our KHo(WO4)2 crystal was heated to 873 K for one hour in air bubbled through D2O and then the ab ...

... You may remember that photons are also the exchange particles for the electromagnetic force. The electromagnetic force from the light source has attracted the electrons from the metal plate through the mediation of the photon. Magnetic circular dichroism

Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) is the differential absorption of left and right circularly polarized (LCP and RCP) light, induced in a sample by a strong magnetic field oriented parallel to the direction of light propagation. MCD measurements can detect transitions which are too weak to be seen in conventional optical absorption spectra; they can also probe paramagnetic properties and the symmetry of the electronic levels of the studied systems, such as metal ion sites.
