Just considering the aspects of the geometrical optics, the curvature of soap film structures cause incident light to be scattered in different directions, because the direction of the rays leaving the soap film boundaries can vary greatly for the same incident angle with a smal ...

The presence of this basket suggests the NPC-like structure is being viewed from inside the nucleus. Proof that this is a nuclear pore complex and not some other, previously ...

... The light source for this experiment is a low-power helium-neon laser with a wavelength of 632.8 nm. Never look directly at a laser beam nor permit anyone else to do so! Exposure to the direct or reflected beam for more than a few seconds will cause serious eye damage. Do not pick up the lasers and ...

No fundamental changes of the photospheric line profiles (in I) or in the circumstellar environment have been observed from 2005 to 2012. It is therefore reasonable to assume that the rotatio ...

Magnetic circular dichroism

Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) is the differential absorption of left and right circularly polarized (LCP and RCP) light, induced in a sample by a strong magnetic field oriented parallel to the direction of light propagation. MCD measurements can detect transitions which are too weak to be seen in conventional optical absorption spectra; they can also probe paramagnetic properties and the symmetry of the electronic levels of the studied systems, such as metal ion sites.
