... The pole associated with the output resistance is at 6.4 KHz in the prototype. Although it is well below the fundamental frequency, there is a slight phase shift of 3 degrees at the switching frequency. This results in a maximum 95% ripple cancellation by the feedforward system, as per eqn. 11. The ...

... You will learn about diodes in ECE 321, but for now we can simply think of them as a onedirectional switch. For an ideal diode, if VD > 0, the “switch” is closed and the diode conducts like a short circuit. For VD < 0, the switch is open and the diode does not conduct, just like an open circuit. In ...

Metadyne

A metadyne is a direct current electrical machine with two pairs of brushes. It can be used as an amplifier or rotary transformer. It is similar to a third brush dynamo but has additional regulator or ""variator"" windings. It is also similar to an amplidyne except that the latter has a compensating winding which fully counteracts the effect of the flux produced by the load current. The technical description is ""a cross-field direct current machine designed to utilize armature reaction"". A metadyne can convert a constant-voltage input into a constant-current, variable-voltage output.
