Difference Amplifier Forms Heart of Precision

... A low-dropout regulator (LDO) is capable of maintaining a specified output voltage over a wide range of load current and input voltage, down to a very small difference between input and output voltages. This difference, known as the dropout voltage or headroom requirement, can be as low as 80 mV at ...

... V=IR or R=V/I. The tester generates a known dc voltage (250 V, 500 V, 1k V or higher), chosen by the user, and measures the leakage current from the conductor through the insulation. The resistance is then calculated. The better the insulation, the lower the leakage current and the higher the amount ...

One reason is that ammeters generally have some finite resistance (which we will call RM ). Thus when the ammeter (shown as an ideal ammeter, ...

Buck converter

A buck converter is a voltage step down and current step up converter. The simplest way to reduce the voltage of a DC supply is to use a linear regulator (such as a 7805), but linear regulators waste energy as they operate by dissipating excess power as heat. Buck converters, on the other hand, can be remarkably efficient (95% or higher for integrated circuits), making them useful for tasks such as converting the main voltage in a computer (12V in a desktop, 12-24V in a laptop) down to the 0.8-1.8V needed by the processor.
