... If the IGBT transistor conducts a current a few times higher than the nominal value, the transistor desaturates and the VCE voltage increases. This behavior can be used for short circuit detection and switching-off an IGBT transistor. The short circuit withstand time for Infineon high power IGBT mod ...

... However a lot of current is needed, to much in my opinion, to allow a simple 5v linear voltage regulator off of a 12 v supply. So a prototyping area is near the power input area. My board plus the LCD only draw about 25mA. But the DDS-9850 modules draw between 100 and 200 mA each. So with 2 modules ...

... Slip rings are used in AC generators because the desired output of the generator is a sine wave. In a DC generator, a commutator was used to provide an output whose current always flowed in the positive direction, as shown in Figure 2. This is not necessary for an AC generator. Therefore, an AC gene ...

... loads. The linearization point is chosen as the point of 100% of the base voltage Vb . This choice is optimal in many cases, since well designed grids are normally operating not far from this point. This strategy is also adopted in the open source code Open DSS [28], [29], in which the linear part o ...

Buck converter

A buck converter is a voltage step down and current step up converter. The simplest way to reduce the voltage of a DC supply is to use a linear regulator (such as a 7805), but linear regulators waste energy as they operate by dissipating excess power as heat. Buck converters, on the other hand, can be remarkably efficient (95% or higher for integrated circuits), making them useful for tasks such as converting the main voltage in a computer (12V in a desktop, 12-24V in a laptop) down to the 0.8-1.8V needed by the processor.
