... power supplies provide the same rated current at all output voltages, however, the 62000P provides greater current at lower output voltages. This means both low voltage/high current and high voltage/low current UUTs can be tested using a single supply avoiding the for multiple supplies saving cost a ...

If they are allowed to float, with no tie to a specific voltage, they will often oscillate spontaneously or sit at a voltage which is neither a definite '1' nor a '0'. In each of these cases, the extra curre ...

... The LM79MXX series of 3-terminal regulators is available with fixed output voltages of −5V, −12V, and −15V. These devices need only one external component — a compensation capacitor at the output. The LM79MXX series is packaged in the TO-220 power package, and is capable of supplying 0.5A of output ...

Buck converter

A buck converter is a voltage step down and current step up converter. The simplest way to reduce the voltage of a DC supply is to use a linear regulator (such as a 7805), but linear regulators waste energy as they operate by dissipating excess power as heat. Buck converters, on the other hand, can be remarkably efficient (95% or higher for integrated circuits), making them useful for tasks such as converting the main voltage in a computer (12V in a desktop, 12-24V in a laptop) down to the 0.8-1.8V needed by the processor.
