... Proof that the Euclidean Algorithm Produces the gcd(a, b) To show that rn , the last non-zero remainder, is, the gcd(a, b) for a  b , we must show the following steps: 1. rn | a and rn | b ( rn is a divisor of both a and b). 2. rn is the largest common divisor of a and b. 3. rn will always exist, t ...

Cantor - Muskingum University
Cantor - Muskingum University

... Cantor began to work on the Continuum Hypothesis, but was not able to make much progress. The Continuum Hypothesis was a theory that stated that the cardinality of the real numbers was next in order after the natural numbers. The inability to resolve this worsened his mental state. It was improved ...

... line x = y, the result is a lattice path from (0, 0) to (n, n) that never goes above the diagonal. One can also think of such a path as a path from (1, 0) to (n + 1, n) that never touches or crosses the diagonal. As the article on ballot numbers explains, these paths are counted by the Catalan numbe ...

Chapter 3 - Loop Analysis(PowerPoint Format)

... Loop (Mesh) Analysis • Loop (mesh) analysis is the systematic application of KVL around various loops in a circuit. • The KVL equations are written in terms of loop currents, common to all elements in a loop. • The result will be a system of equations in which the unknowns are these loop currents. • ...

Mathematics of radio engineering

The mathematics of radio engineering is the mathematical description by complex analysis of the electromagnetic theory applied to radio. Waves have been studied since ancient times and many different techniques have developed of which the most useful idea is the superposition principle which apply to radio waves. The Huygen's principle, which says that each wavefront creates an infinite number of new wavefronts that can be added, is the base for this analysis.
