In recent decades this warming has been accompanied by a constant rise in the sea level and, it would appear, by an increase of extreme weather events, even if a scientifically determinable cause cannot be assigned to each particular phenomenon. ... Grassland phenology is affected by changes in temperature and precipitation variation (Shen et al., 2011). Precipitation plays an important role in the temperature dependency of phenology in arid and semiarid regions (Shen et al., 2015). Precipitation limits the growth and yield of grassland in arid ...

It illustrates how the daily weather can be very different from the climate at a particular time of year. The final part of this activity shows how predicti ...

... The Earth’s climate is influenced by many factors. Equatorial areas have hot temperatures all year whereas areas further north and south of the Equator receive lesser solar energy and so have a cooler climate. The tilt of the Earth relative to the Sun, and its orbit around the Sun means that climate ...

Instrumental temperature record

The instrumental temperature record shows fluctuations of the temperature of earth's climate system. Initially the instrumental temperature record only documented land and sea surface temperature, but in recent decades instruments have also begun recording ocean temperature. Data is collected from thousands of meteorological stations around the globe and through satellite observations. The longest-running temperature record is the Central England temperature data series, that starts in 1659. The longest-running quasi-global record starts in 1850.
