Further, it did not contribute to the specific heat, because its derivative with respect to temperature is zero.14 Nevertheless, in view of EUCKEN’ ...

THE SCIENCE OF JET
THE SCIENCE OF JET

... JET came into operation in 1983, its purpose being to make a substantial step in the search for a means of obtaining power from nuclear fusion. It had been preceded by a world-wide exploration of the subject which began in the late 1940s. However, the story starts a century earlier with the problem ...

Waves can also be used to drive current in the plasma by providing a “push” to electrons travelling in one particular direction. In JET, 10 MW of these so-called Lower Hybrid microwaves (at 3.7 ...

Quantum vacuum thruster

A quantum vacuum plasma thruster (or Q-thruster) is a proposed type of spacecraft thruster that would work in part by acting on the virtual particles produced by quantum vacuum fluctuations. This was proposed as a possible model for an engine that could produce thrust without carrying its own propellant. Some physicists working with microwave resonant cavity thrusters think that they might be the first examples of such an engine.
