Semi-Supervised Adapted HMMs for Unusual Event Detection

... graphical models [3, 11, 10, 9]. In particular, some recent work has attempted to recognize highlights in videos, e.g., sports [15, 7, 18]. In our view, this concept is related but not identical to unusual event detection. On one hand, typical highlight events in most sports can be well defined from ...

There are important results about all functions of a certain type — the factor theorem for polynomial functions, for example — and these require general arguments (A-APR.2). Deciding whether two functions are eq ...

Cost-effective Outbreak Detection in Networks Jure Leskovec Andreas Krause Carlos Guestrin
Cost-effective Outbreak Detection in Networks Jure Leskovec Andreas Krause Carlos Guestrin

... There are several possible criteria one may want to optimize in outbreak detection. For example, one criterion seeks to minimize detection time (i.e., to know about a cascade as soon as possible, or avoid spreading of contaminated water). Similarly, another criterion seeks to minimize the population ...

... Paul can calculate ρ[t] precisely with a 2U -bit vector and a counter for the current number of rare species, updating the data structure in O(1) operations per fish caught. Operational transformation

Operational transformation (OT) is a technology for supporting a range of collaboration functionalities in advanced collaborative software systems. OT was originally invented for consistency maintenance and concurrency control in collaborative editing of plain text documents. Two decades of research has extended its capabilities and expanded its applications to include group undo, locking, conflict resolution, operation notification and compression, group-awareness, HTML/XML and tree-structured document editing, collaborative office productivity tools, application-sharing, and collaborative computer-aided media design tools (see OTFAQ). In 2009 OT was adopted as a core technique behind the collaboration features in Apache Wave and Google Docs.
