GAN workshop report - Climate Technology Centre & Network

... The adaptation gap can be defined generically as the difference between implemented adaptation and a societally set goal. Estimating the adaptation gap is far more challenging than calculating the emissions gap, because 1) there is no globally agreed goal or metrics for adaptation, and 2) adaptation ...

Ocean Iron Fertilization, Climate Change, and the International

The conceptual foundation for ocean iron fertilization traces its origins to a scientific article published in 1988.33 The author, John Martin, recognized that wind-swept atmospheric dust from land formed an important source of iron for ocean waters, and that iron-deficient regions of the ocean rece ...

... Carbon dioxide (CO2) and ozone (O3) are important greenhouse gases that contribute to global climate change. The effects of elevated CO 2 and/or O3 on plants remain unclear. Plant responses to mixtures of the two gases at high concentrations are likely to be complex. Previous studies have shown that ...

IPCC Fourth Assessment Report

Climate Change 2007, the Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), is the fourth in a series of reports intended to assess scientific, technical and socio-economic information concerning climate change, its potential effects, and options for adaptation and mitigation. The report is the largest and most detailed summary of the climate change situation ever undertaken, produced by thousands of authors, editors, and reviewers from dozens of countries, citing over 6,000 peer-reviewed scientific studies. It supersedes the Third Assessment Report (2001), and is superseded by the Fifth Assessment Report. The headline findings of the report were: ""warming of the climate system is unequivocal"", and ""most of the observed increase in global average temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations.""
