... system, rather than performing the experiments on each individual copy separately. At first sight, it may seem that the whole phenomenon of incompatibility is lost in such an approach: if two copies of the same system are available, then by measuring σx on one system and σy on the other, one has in ...

An Introduction to the Theory of Quantum Groups

... To some extent, quantum groups almost sound like science fiction, especially given the weirdness surrounding the discoveries of quantum physics. So, just what are these exciting new structures called quantum groups? It’s always good to be honest at the outset of a significant undertaking. With that ...

... Our review necessarily does not cover several topics that are inseparable from reactive molecular collision theory. These include the vast body of sophisticated and detailed experimental data, upon which the theory must be built. Experiments are discussed in many reviews, including Bernstein’s AMCT ...

... Abstract: Perception may not be what you think it is. Perception is not just a collection of inputs from our sensory system. Instead, it is the brain's interpretation (positive, negative or neutral-no signature case) of stimuli which is based on an individual's genetics and past experiences. Percept ...

Topological quantum field theory

A topological quantum field theory (or topological field theory or TQFT) is a quantum field theory which computes topological invariants.Although TQFTs were invented by physicists, they are also of mathematical interest, being related to, among other things, knot theory and the theory of four-manifolds in algebraic topology, and to the theory of moduli spaces in algebraic geometry. Donaldson, Jones, Witten, and Kontsevich have all won Fields Medals for work related to topological field theory. In condensed matter physics, topological quantum field theories are the low energy effective theories of topologically ordered states, such as fractional quantum Hall states, string-net condensed states, and other strongly correlated quantum liquid states.
