HOME-BUILDING AMATEUR RADIO EQUIPMENT CHAPTER 2
HOME-BUILDING AMATEUR RADIO EQUIPMENT CHAPTER 2

... don’t laugh! Our ancestors did it. Of course, they had to stay out in the woods for thousands of years to finish the job. Our ancestors were smart, hard-working folks. From our lofty position today it’s easy to look down on them as some sort of blue-collar, country bumpkins. Ironically, country bump ...

... The LTC1998 has an adjustable hysteresis ranging from 10mV to 0.75V. A large hysteresis is useful in the event that a low battery signal at the LTC1998’s BATTLO pin causes the system to shed some battery load, thus inducing system confusion as the partially loaded battery recovers and changes the st ...

... Most of the loads aboard ship are 3 phase loads. See Reference 4, Chapter 21. Three phase loads can be either delta or wye connected. We will consider them to be “balanced” loads. That is to say that each side of the delta has the same magnitude and angle of impedance. Each leg of the wye also has t ...

... If the ski run is smooth and easy => LOW resistance => lots of people will go down in a short time. There’s a large current of skiers. The lift has to bring lots of people up, the steady state current is high. If the run ices up (no resistance at all) we have big trouble. People get hurt, the lift g ...

Valve RF amplifier

A valve RF amplifier (UK and Aus.) or tube amplifier (U.S.), is a device for electrically amplifying the power of an electrical radio frequency signal.Low to medium power valve amplifiers for frequencies below the microwaves were largely replaced by solid state amplifiers during the 1960s and 1970s, initially for receivers and low power stages of transmitters, transmitter output stages switching to transistors somewhat later. Specially constructed valves are still in use for very high power transmitters, although rarely in new designs.
