OCW_3_Electronic Instrumentation Noise and Interference

... Origins of Noise in Circuits (I) • Noise is considered to arise in a circuit or measurement system from completely random phenomena: usually from thermal or quantum origins. • We will consider noise sources to be stationary and with zero means. The latter means that the unwanted DC components are be ...

... kHz. According to the Nyquist theorem the sampling frequency is sufficiently high (more than two times larger than 20 kHz). However, if in the processed acoustic signal there is a parasitic signal of the frequency 45 kHz this signal is in analog technique not danger – it is inaudible (beyond the aud ...

A CMOS low power, process/temperature variation tolerant RSSI

... Generally, there are two types of circuits applied for magnitude control, namely the automatically gain-controlled amplifier (AGC) and the limiting amplifier (LA). An AGC consists of an amplifier with controllable gain and a magnitude detector for gain adjustment. Configured as a closed-loop structu ...

Reviewing key areas when designing with the NE605

... The above shows the calculations for a single-ended match to the NE605. For a balanced matching network, a transformer can be used. The same type of calculations will still apply once the input impedance of the NE605 is converted to the primary side of the transformer (see Figure 6). But before we t ...

Cellular repeater

A cellular repeater (also known as cell phone signal booster or amplifier), in the cell phone industry, is a device used for boosting the cell phone reception to the local area by the usage of a reception antenna, a signal amplifier, and an internal rebroadcast antenna. These are similar to the cellular broadcast towers used for broadcasting by the network providers, but are much smaller, usually intended for use in one building. Modern cellular repeater amplifiers can rebroadcast cellular signals inside a building. The systems usually use an external, directional antenna to collect the best cellular signal, which is then transmitted to an amplifier unit which amplifies the signal, and retransmits it locally, providing significantly improved signal strength. The more advanced models often also allow multiple cell phones to use the same repeater at the same time, so are suitable for commercial as well as home use.
