Lossless Quantum Data Compression and Secure Direct

... quantum computer is a sequence of qubits, say of length N . The corresponding Hilbert space is of dimension 2N , where each dimension represents one degree of freedom. A classical computer has to carry out calculations by addressing any of these 2 N degrees of freedom. In contrast to that, the quant ...

Studies of Infinite Two-Dimensional Quantum Lattice

... Determining the properties of quantum many-body systems is a central challenge in modern physics. Being able to determine the macroscopic properties of a system from its microscopic description would hasten progress in many fields of science and technology. However, we currently lack the tools to so ...

Creating and Detecting Micro-Macro Photon

... entangled photon pair, we propose to start from a singlephoton entangled state, which can be created by sending a single photon onto a beam splitter [16–19]. The presence of single-photon entanglement can be proven experimentally by homodyne tomography [17], and also by a combination of interference ...

Orchestrated objective reduction

Orchestrated objective reduction (Orch-OR) is a hypothesis that consciousness in the brain originates from processes inside neurons, rather than from connections between neurons as in the conventional view. The mechanism is held to be a quantum physics process called objective reduction which is orchestrated by molecular structures called microtubules. The hypothesis, which was put forward in the early 1990s by theoretical physicist Roger Penrose and anaesthesiologist and psychologist Stuart Hameroff, has so far been rejected by the majority of cognitive scientists.
