... describes a spatial evolution. On one hand, we have the description of the transversal field profile on a plan z = z0 at different values t. On the other hand, we have at a time t0 the description at different values z of the transversal field profile. For example, it can describe the temporal evolu ...

Isolation of the Conceptual Ingredients of Quantum Theory by Toy

... Special Relativity, was built around the fundamental idea of causality: he decreed that the constant speed of light provides a limit on the speed at which observers can communicate, and a finite lower bound on the time taken to transmit a causal influence. In short Einstein had stated that cause and ...

Orchestrated objective reduction

Orchestrated objective reduction (Orch-OR) is a hypothesis that consciousness in the brain originates from processes inside neurons, rather than from connections between neurons as in the conventional view. The mechanism is held to be a quantum physics process called objective reduction which is orchestrated by molecular structures called microtubules. The hypothesis, which was put forward in the early 1990s by theoretical physicist Roger Penrose and anaesthesiologist and psychologist Stuart Hameroff, has so far been rejected by the majority of cognitive scientists.
