... An amplifier has an input port and an output port. (A port consists of two terminals, one of which is usually connected to the ground node.) In a linear amplifier, the output signal = A X input signal, where A is the amplification factor or “gain.” Depending on the nature of the input and output sig ...

... 7. -20dB PAD Switch: Engaging this feature applies -20db to the incoming signal. This is a very useful feature for reducing the level coming into the WA12 and thus preventing the signal from clipping or distorting. This may occur due to high output level from a microphone or other device. Padding th ...

However, most of the commercially available devices for these applications require a bipolar power supply (BPS), capable of drive a high electric current into a configuration of Helmholtz coils with low impedance. This power supplies are at least difficult to acquire and they ...

Synopsis: This paper discusses body biasing techniques to either reduce the power usage of a die that does not meet a power consumption requirement, or increasing the frequency of a die that does not meet a frequency requirement. Two methods are discussed: The first is a manual bias voltage applied ...

The dB in Communications

... dBuV This is a common form for specifying input RF levels to a communications receiver. This is called dB microvolt where 1 microvolt = 1*10E-6V. dbV While this dB term is defined, it is rarely used in defining communication systems. The dB value is obtained with respect to 1 Volt. dB/bit This is a ...

Audio power

Audio power is the electrical power transferred from an audio amplifier to a loudspeaker, measured in watts. The electrical power delivered to the loudspeaker, together with its sensitivity, determines the sound power level generated (with the rest being converted to heat).Amplifiers are limited in the electrical energy they can amplify, while loudspeakers are limited in the electrical energy they can convert to sound energy without distorting the audio signal or being damaged. These power ratings are important to consumers finding compatible products and comparing competitors.
