The following assignment is asking you to be the therapist.
1. Read the following case studies (below).
2. Look at the list of therapeutic models listed below and apply ONE of the theories to
EACH case study.

You can only use a theory for one case example. In other words, you cannot use psychoanalysis
to describe every case study. For each, describe WHY you chose that particular theory and how
the theory would seek to treat the disorder. This should be done in FULL SENTENCES on a
separate sheet of paper.
Case Studies:
1. Joe is 18 years of age and is deeply concerned over the thought that he might be
schizophrenic. Both his parents were schizophrenic, and his college friends have complained
about his extreme sensitivity to criticism and his paranoia.
2. Ann is 42 years of age and is very depressed. She has planned all her life to have a large
family, yet the men she dates never seem to be the right type for marriage or proper "father
material."
3. Tim is 35 and dissatisfied with his work situation. His co-workers seem to avoid him and
have complained to his superiors about his abusive personality. Tim believes these people are
just weak individuals who envy his strength and greater intelligence.
4. Sue is 27 years of age and is feeling frustrated with her current employment situation. She
thinks about quitting and starting her own business, but she worries about her finances and the
possibility of failure.
Marks will be awarded based on your ability to apply the therapeutic model (in detail) to
the specific case study.
