Major Organ Systems Graphic Organizer
Name:_______________
Date:______
Period:___
Introduction:
Scientists organize multi-cellular structures into 5 basic levels from cells to organisms.
Organs are different types of tissue that work together to as a part of an organ system.
Examples of organs are the lungs, brains, and eyes. Organ systems are made of two or
more organs. Organ systems work together and interact to keep you alive.
Standard(s):

BI9. a. Students know how the complementary activity of major body systems provides
cells with oxygen and nutrients and removes toxic waste products such as carbon
dioxide.
 BI9. b. Students know how the nervous system mediates communication between
different parts of the body and the body’s interactions with the environment.
 BI9. c. Students know how feedback loops in the nervous and endocrine systems
regulate conditions in the body.
Learning Objective (s):
SWBAT…
•Understand the how the human body is organized starting from the smallest (cells) to the largest
(organism) level.
•Explain how different organ systems work together to maintain homeostasis.
•Understand the importance of maintaining a stable internal environment in the human body.
Directions:
 Using the resources listed below and other internet resources fill in the table below for
each major organ system.
 Answer the follow-up questions below.

Follow-up Questions:
1. Provide an example of how two or more organ systems work together to maintain
a stable internal environment in your body.
2. What is the relationship between the respiratory system and circulatory system?
3. How does the nervous system and endocrine system control the rest of the organ
system?
