Glenn Miller: Popular bandleader of the 1930-1944. He died
tragically during World War II while entertaining the troops
overseas. He played trombone and arranged music with a whole
“new sound” for jazz bands. Song to remember: “In the
Mood”. His band is still touring America.
Early Hollywood actresses that sang…and danced!
Shirley Temple: child actress in Hollywood in the 19201940’s. She lifted the spirits of “movie-goers” and throughout
the world with her songs “ On the Good Ship Lollipop” and
worked with “Mr. Bojangles, Lionel Barrymore and many big a
stars of the early movie screen. She was also pen-pals with
Amelia Eierhart, the famous pilot.

Judy Garland: child star of the movies during the 30’s 40’s
and 50’s. She stared in Wizard of Oz, Meet me in St. Louis
and many other MGM movies. She died before her time from
complications with addictions.
