little growth, study shows

Press release courtesy of the Wellcome Trust: A gene previously linked to too much
growth in patients has now also been linked to growth restriction. Different forms of
the gene can lead to very different conditions, according to research published
today in the journal Nature Genetics.


Inositol taken alongside folic acid may be most effective
in preventing neural tube defects

Women at risk of carrying babies with spina bifida and other neural tube defects may
benefit from taking inositol, also called vitamin B8, alongside folic acid during pregnancy,
suggests research from a team at the UCL Institute of Child Health, the research partner of
Great Ormond Street Hospital.

