DNA Replication
Name _
Per. ________ Date ________
You will draw out the DNA replication steps of Interphase. In each box, draw the event described. You must label all the bold words in each
drawing. Pay attention to the specific coloring directions. Use chapter 6 in your book to help you.
1. Draw a wound (spiral)
molecule of DNA. Use
multiple colors for nitrogen
bases, sugars and
phosphates.
Give your double helix the
following sequence:
ACCGTATTGATC
2. Draw an unwound DNA
molecule, to show that it is
ready to replicate.
Label your sugars and
phosphates.
Use same colors as in
box #1
3. Draw your DNA
molecule being unzipped.
4. Show your DNA
molecule being copied.
5. Illustrate your two
identical strands of DNA.
You may use one single
color to represent the rails
of this strand of DNA (the
old strand).
Draw and label the new
nucleotides being added to
their complementary bases.
Label your sequences.
Use a different color for the
rails of the new strand.
Represent your “old” DNA
and your “new” DNA with
colors.
