Details of Experience
1. Worked as Programme Manager for Save the Children, UK for Chennai team and earlier
worked for Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Pondicherry and Karaikkal districts and Chennai team in
their Tsunami Response Programme. Coordinated projects in seven sectors including HIV/AIDS,
Education, Shelter, Livelihoods, Child Protection, ECD and Child Protection in the Cuddalore field
office.
The project came to an end due to transition to Save the Children India as per the funding
arrangements.

2. Kinder Not Hilfe, Germany
[April 2005 to Dec.2005]
KNH is working in developing countries and one of the biggest sponsorship agencies in Germany.
KNH is funding various NGOs for more than 20 years in India. It has 14 partners working for
Tsunami relief in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh with more than Rs.500 million committed
towards rehabilitation.
Main responsibility for me was to monitor and assist the partners in managing relief and livelihood
restoration activities in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Develop effective and efficient managers
through carefully planned capacity building programmes. Motivate highly committed cadre of people
working in such projects.
3. Catalyst Management Services Limited
[April. 2004 to March 2005]
Consulting and research in micro credit, enterprises, marketing, monitoring and evaluation. Main
organisations worked with Royal Danish Embassy, Plan International, Hivos, Aid-et-Action,
ASSEFA, various NGOs, and State Governments.
Simultaneously, Founder Member and Board memberof Swasti, a health resource centre, involved in
capacity building, program management, research, networking and knowledge management. Focus on HIVAIDS, RCH and health systems. (Karnataka, India)
Founder Member of Catalyst Development Initiatives, a not-for-profit society, involved in program
implementation, capacity building, development of platforms and support groups for various issues.

5. Royal Danish Embassy, New Delhi, India
[Mar 98 till March.2004]
Worked as ADVISOR for its Livestock Development Project in Tamil Nadu, India, under its
economic development programs, mainly to coordinate 36 NGOs in five districts to work closely
with the project and GoTN staff. The objective of the project is to improve general welfare of the
rural poor through increased sales of animal products and through adoption of improved animal
husbandry and fodder development. The State Government of Tamil Nadu through its field teams
implemented the project. The project covers about 3, 00,000 families spread over five backward
districts.

Supervising assistance to the project (financial, technical, human, others)
Facilitating project planning, monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment
Lead and be a part of teams/ committees to conduct dialogue with Government for changes
in policies, working methods, approaches
Maintaining strategic direction of funding – bringing synergy among activities and
strategies of all stakeholders of the project – Embassy, Government, Non-Governmental
Organizations, and others
6. Field Office Supported by PLAN International, implementation by Association for Sarva
Seva Farms (ASSEFA)
[Nov 86 to Feb 98]
ASSEFA is working in more than 3,650 villages across 61 blocks in 6 states in India. I served as
Project/Managing Director for its three program areas and women’s dairy federation;
and
Programme Executive in overall charge of implementing rural development programs – supported
by PLAN International (a child focused international non-governmental organization)
The objective of the project was to improve quality of life of rural poor through economic, social
development and building self-reliant and self-managed communities. The project is implemented
by the ASSEFA through its field teams, funded by Government and international funding agencies.
The project covered about 85,000 families spread over five backward districts.
Main responsibilities include:







Project implementation through field teams and overall management
Resource mobilization and management (financial, technical, human)
Coordinating activities and programs
Monitoring, evaluation, Planning and budgeting

Networking with government, NGOs, CBOs, and others

7. Indo-German Social Service Society (IGSS)

IGSSS is an international funding agency, supported by MISEREOR, Germany. It supports various
development projects in India. It is a multi-program development funding organization. The
overall goal of development funding is poverty reduction. Major focus areas are economic
development, environment, women development, and promoting self-management.
Project Executive in overall charge of post-funding evaluations of bank-financed development
projects.

Was BOARD* Member, for a community managed rural credit institution, promoted by
ASSEFA, covering communities in six states of India, 1989-98, BOARD Member, for a
rural products marketing organization, promoted by ASSEFA, covering six states of India,
1992-98, BOARD MEMBER, for a rural education promotion organization, promoted by
ASSEFA, covering six states of India, 1993-98, BOARD Member, for a women owned
dairy marketing federation, promoted by ASSEFA, covering six states of India, 1995-98, as
Advisory committee member of Shristi, a unit of M.S.Chellamuthu Trust, Madurai.

Currently President to a network of NGOs called “LIFE”(Livestock Improvement
Federation) where trained couples are working in villages as livestock extension agents in
five districts of Tamil Nadu.

Currently Board member of SWASTI-health resource centre at Bangalore (earlier
Chairperson for SWASTI).
