Being exposed to the bodybuilding community and all of the current news regarding steroids in
sports, many of us have heard all about the use of growth hormones. However, how many of
us know how they work, or why they work?
According to the current trends of the bodybuilding world (and stiff competition),
many are turning to the simple solutions of the market. However, even though these
supplements such as GH are not that new to the market, they are beginning to make a rise
in the sporting and competitive world. GH or Growth Hormone, in simple terms is a
protein with a bunch of amino acids that is synthesized, and secreted by cells. It usually is
most important in the physical aspects of the body. Most think that is basically has to do
with muscle but it affects the growth rate of basically almost everything in your body.
(However, some feel that if injected into certain areas in controlled amounts it can help
that affected area.) Since cell reproduction is increased, it becomes handy in the weight
world. Don’t be fooled into that this limits breakdown. (This is basically how it is
legalized) Your body breaks down normally as you would without it. The catch is that
GH accelerates the rebuilding of cells, which in turn increases recovery, which is the
main reason people use
it.
Why are we trying to enhance GH?
I feel that many are trying to enhance, because of the reason above it is LEGAL!
It is the gateway, basically to finding a legalized product that has similar actions of a
anabolic steroid. Honestly I don’t know one bodybuilder who knows exactly what is
going into their supplement or for that matter care as long as it’s working. This brings us
to the point of mass research in the GH industry. People want what gets them to a set
point quicker, which is why steroids were popular when they were legalized 15-20 years
ago. Simply, the process is supply and demand. This method has driven the creatine,
protein, and no2 market for years. Now, it’s GH’s turn to advance in the bodybuilding
world.
How effective is GH?
As for its effective ness, based on personal experience I can not tell you.
However, from what I hear it is more effective then naturally healing, which in most
peoples mindset I guess would be considered a good thing. As seen with the Mitchell
Report, many athletes feel that it helps with recovery in the structural system of the body,
and allows them to return to the competition faster. After all, if you are injured you are
not making any money. As for the normal person, I don’t see the product doing much
good of use.
What are the differences between GH and steroids?
This is the big question. The average American thanks that steroids, and GH can
be placed on the same level however they can not. First, steroids make your body
extremely anabolic and GH does not. The misconception is that they both make the body
anabolic, this rumor is false. Second, Steroids make your muscles like a balloon with tiny
holes in it. You can keep filling up the balloon and it will get bigger, but eventually when
you stop filling the balloon it will return to normal. GH is used to build muscle, and
joints back to their normal state, and the final results remain the same when it stop being
used, because it basically is just speeding up natural processes. Third, they involve two
different chemical processes. Steroids act kind of like testosterone. It encourages high
muscle growth, and as some know as you go past your teens-early twenties that
testosterone level begins to drop .GH basically breaks down fat cells for recovery. Same
process the human body goes through every night. Keep this in mind next time you are
quick to jump a athlete and bring him down to the level of a steroid user.
