Propaganda Project
Students will get into groups of three or four (unless otherwise specified) and create a
brand new project to market. No reasonable item will be refused unless it is not suitable
to discuss in school. The purpose of the project is for each student to understand
propaganda’s use of fact and opinion to get consumers to buy their products. There are
several ways groups can choose to market their product. The commercial may be funny,
but not silly. The project must include at least five facts about the product such as fat
content, actual uses of the product, etc. The project must also include five opinions about
the product. Other ways to promote your product include posters, an example of your
product, etc. I want you to have fun while you do this project, but make sure that you
understand the goal we are trying to reach. The reason that I chose to do fact vs. opinion
this way is because I know you have an understanding of facts and opinions so I want
you to apply that knowledge. Students will also present their project at the end of the
week. Each group must present rubric to get graded. The rubric for this project follows:
5 Facts: 25 pts.
5 Opinions: 25 pts.
Clear Understanding of Fact and Opinion: 15 pts.
Originality: 5 pts.
Neatness: 5 pts.
Interesting, Organized, and Useful Presentations: 25 Pts.
**Presentation will also count for 100 pts.
