The large berries are easy to pick, and produce high yields over a long fruiting
season. Home gardeners will appreciate its excellent freezing quality. Easy to
grow and has large, firm fruit.
This Day Neutral Strawberry Plant bears fruit 12-14 weeks after planting. The
plants have the potential to be the most productive of any day-neutral. The
berries are large, firm and have good flavor when picked ripe from the plant.
Select open pollinated variety developed over many years of field trials. A
hand-selected & improved strain of the Mary Washington variety.
Sub-zero hardy, disease and pest-free. Bears delicious fruit and needs no
pollinizer. Usually bears fruit 2nd year. It thrives in full sun to partial shade,
and prefers acidic soil. Bears fruit in mid-fall. Vines 12’-20’. Fruit 1-1¾” .
Woods-cultivated ginseng grown from seed will require at least five years to
yield a marketable product. The best time to plant is fall or very early spring.
Plant seeds individually 3/4 to 1 inch (4 seeds per square foot) below the
surface. Leaves on top of the planting spot should be kicked aside before
planting and returned after planting. About 70 percent of these seeds should
germinate. Ginseng is shade-obligate and requires tree and/or shrub coverage
of 60 to 90 percent shade, preferably a site facing north or east. After planting,
carefully step down each row to firm the soil around the seeds. Best soils are
loamy, moist, well drained, high in organic matter, and slightly acidic.
