Dictators in Europe:
Content Statement # 15: The consequences of WWI and the worldwide depression set the stage for the Russian
Revolution, the rise of totalitarianism, aggressive axis expansion and the policy of appeasement, which in turn led to
WWII.
So far in our post WWI studies we have looked at global affairs and realized that there were still several unresolved issues in
the world. Those seeking better living conditions did not gain much after the war. In addition to this, global depression hit
people hard.
With little money and little achievement, many had lost hope. This is especially true in Europe where prosperity and power
have lost its luster. In section 4 of your text you will read about the individuals who rose to power and spark the deadliest war
mankind has ever seen.
