LOS INFINITIVOS (Infinitives)
What are they? They have 3 characteristics:
 They are “unconjugated” verbs; there is no subject
with the verb’s action
 They always end in “-r” (-ar, -er, -ir) in Spanish
 They always mean “to . . .” in English:
e.g. to buy
to put; place
to get to know
to go

comprar
poner

ir a
When we “conjugate” we take the infinitive
(verb) and use it with a subject:
e.g.
I have
he needs
you want

yo tengo
(from TENER)
él necesita (from NECESITAR)
tú quieres
(from QUERER)
