World Regions Geography 132.81 Meetings: M/W 10:30am-12:24pm Hillsdale Campus; Room 14 Mr. Omo (517) 688-9896 Objectives: In this regional approach to geography, the students and the teacher attempt to gather knowledge and appreciation for each of the regions of the world (for example, South Asia, East Asia, and Russia and the Transcaucasus. Each student is responsible for outlining and presenting specific information about one of the twelve regions of the world. Some of the topics to be covered for each region are: the landscape, range of climate, environmental geography, population and settlement, cultural coherence, geopolitical framework, economic and social development. Associate Degree Outcomes (ADO) ADO #5 Understand human behavior and social systems, the principles which govern them, and their implications for the present and future ADO #10 Understand and respect the diversity and interdependence of peoples and cultures. Grading: The student’s grade in this course is based on the overall average of points earned for their regional presentations, map quizzes, worksheets, and any extra credit offered by the teacher. The teacher reserves the right to refuse or discount any late assignments.
