Background:
Winchester Cathedral has been at the heart of a vibrant community for nearly
1000 years. Today, the Cathedral welcomes more than 300,000 visitors and
pilgrims each year into the Cathedral. They come to share in our daily worship
and hear our world-class choir, to enjoy the wonderful setting, stunning
architecture, priceless treasures and to attend our extensive programme of
events.
The stunning beauty of this medieval Cathedral, a sign of living Christian faith is
an inspiration to all who visit. Our commitment and challenge is to reflect that
beauty in how we live every day – in our hopes and plans for the future, and
how we worship.
Duties

Develop, deliver and keep under review the marketing objectives in-line with
Chapter’s Strategic Plan, for the following areas: worship, tourism, events,
retail, ecommerce, catering, venue hire, education and conservation.

Develop, deliver and implement a creative an integrated marketing
campaign approach that raises our profile in an effective and productive
manner and positively engages new audiences both real and virtual

Effectively utilise the marketing and campaign budgets for core activities
and major events.

Manage online and offline publications to ensure a consistent and effective
approach to design, production and distribution, including website, social
media sites, and tourism, events, visitor and corporate publications.

Recognises the importance of measuring and monitoring the effectiveness
of all marketing activities and plans

Work closely and collaboratively with other departments which includes
worship and learning and externally to achieve organisational objectives.

To actively participate with external partners and other external marketing
teams including Tourism South, BID, Hampshire County Council and
Winchester City Council

Develop and manage the Cathedral in terms of visual identity, values and
behaviours.

Effectively line-manage the Marketing Officer (digital).

Manage the use of external agencies/freelancers to support the
achievement of special marketing communications projects within agreed
parameters.

Monitor and commission market research to gain market intelligence.

Attend trade shows as necessary
