Honorary Visiting Fellow at the School of Archaeology and Ancient History
[email protected]
I am a physical anthropologist with expertise in the analysis of human bones
(Palaeoanthropology and Forensic Anthropology). My research has three strands: (1)
comprehending growth, maturation, and aging of past and modern populations (e.g. Rissech et
al., 2004; Rissech & Malgosa 2007; Rissech et al., 2001, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2012, 2013a;
Rissech 2013; Pujol-Bayona et al., 2011); (2) the study of the diseases in the past (Rissech et
al., 2011) and their relationship to aging (Rissech et al., 2004); and (3) the demographic, socioeconomic and temporal contextualization of skeletal samples (Rissech and Steadman, 2011).
Throughout my research I have advocated and practiced inter-disciplinary approaches,
combining human bone analysis with documentary sources, histological and biomolecular
analysis and medicine.
