Worked with JSON, JavaScript, html, css, on WordPress sites to update, improve and develop sites. Used SASS to create reusable modules for some of the new sites created at Discovery. Used Angular to present well, structured data on newer sites using JSON to query data. Used Sublime text, Visual studio, Workbench, SVN, Sourcetree, Grunt, Gulp, Git and Confluence to create code, merge branches and query databases. Maintain over 100 sites both legacy and newer sites using both frontend and backend technologies to continuously improve service for external clients. Used github and git to branch, merge, and resolve conflicts to share code amongst international teams. St John Ambulance: Front end Web Developer November 2011 – June 2014 Hand coded to develop and update the organisation’s public and member sites. Emphasis is put on sites being easy to integrate within the CMS (content management system) for updating content. Update and maintain the public and customer facing sites, which both inform and sell products to the users, ensuring that all are cross browser and backwards compatible. Ensure styling is correct for mobile usage using Media queries and JavaScript to overcome cross browser and device issues. Using three, week sprints, Agile projects are planned, tracked and implemented to meet the customer needs. Team foundation server is used to monitor version control of code throughout projects. All sites need to be cross browser compatible with the ability to work backwards to Internet Explorer 8 as well as the other popular browsers; cross browser compatibility is a must. Implement hand coded JavaScript/JQuery to help the sites be more interactive, such as Carousel sliders, Accordions to manage content display and site layout. Using correct semantic markup and CSS to develop the sites and create fluid sites for different media devices, including mobile devices. We have mainly employed the use of media queries to react to the screen sizes of the devices being used by the target audience. Worked on vast amount of projects with Backend Developers throughout time at SJA to improve the sites and user experience throughout the organisation. West London Academy: Creative Developer April 2010 – October 2011 Developed and maintained four customer facing websites and the Academy’s Intranet, some of which were used to sell courses or create bookings. Updated and managed all the sites on a daily basis with requests from the staff across the Academy. Matters ranged from changing permission settings, file uploads and manipulating databases. Built Sharepoint sites for all Academy departments and integrated department sites with individual student accounts to process online homework management. Developed a new Intranet and also a new main website which was launched in 2012. With new added technology, style, functionality and newly produced videos the main site has come on leaps and bounds to engage the users. Made full use of Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, After Effects and Flash) to produce graphics and designs needed for sites, site interaction and menu templates for all video content and DVD authoring. Web Designer: Champion Recruitment April 2008 – December 2009 Through Champion I worked for two companies (Wiley Blackwell: Publishing company and Nominet: Internet Governance company for entire .co.uk web hosting) on separate projects before moving to London. Worked with company directors on the creation of a new Intranet for Nominet. This involved creating a fresh look and better usability with the use of new content and copy development. Maintained and problem solved for several hundred micro sites. Ensured QA for large collection of sites in migration of company branding project. The role at Nominet involved requirements specification, design and code implementation. Created web friendly content that was simple and effective. Created textual, graphic and video content as well as designed and implemented code. Communicating both written and verbal was required within all levels throughout the business to define requirements from the end user, developers and the company directors. Resolved intranet and current project issues regarding content submitted by internal staff At Wiley Blackwell I managed projects from the E-Help publishing site as well as monitoring budget for site changeover and banner production for aesthetic site consistency in the marketing department. Freelance Digital Producer 2003 - present Formed and managed teams to produce features that were used on National TV. Produced features for private clients and streaming video for commercial companies. Worked as an independent Digital Media Producer to fund my University.
