Bio: (Write a 100-150 word bio that introduces yourself and your work. This may be used for the WHRI
website.)
My name is Gina Rosende Godoy, from Chile. I am social worker; I have experience in diverse areas,
each of them linked in some or another way to the women human rights issues. I have worked in the
national commission on political imprisonment and torture report of my country, in the community
programs of responsibilities of adolescents for criminal conducts and as a technical Adviser about family
issues in the Chilean Family court.
I believe that professional experience runs its course in a matter of vocation and destiny, therefore I
have also learned to value it as a personal experience, and it does not define me in its whole. So I am
also a yoga instructor and I hope to continue on this path. I can say that everything is related just like
human rights.

social workers, psychologists, sociologists, anthropologists, architects and engineers. And eventually

B: Project Plan
I. Background and justification of the project, including who are the beneficiaries, and why?
After analyzing the general recommendations of the committee to Chile and then also going through the
report of the working group on the issue of discrimination against women in law and practice (Chile
mission 2014) it is possible to recognize the need for professionals in several areas to incorporate the
gender perspective and even more to work having WHRI as guide.
The direct beneficiaries are all the professionals and institutions who are going to be able to include
Women in their Work Plan, to perform shares coordination with SERNAM (National Service of women
and future ministry) and also to transmit WHRI to other spheres of Knowledge, according with the main
recommendation of the committee and having into consideration that Chile is bound to CEDAW. The
indirect the beneficiaries are the women involves in this institutions and professionals work.
What is the need? Why this project? What are the issues being addressed?
This project is based in the requirement that the committee makes to Chile about the dissemination,
which emphasis that professionals form different areas and institutions should be aware of the steps
that have been taken to ensure the “jure and facto equality”. This requirement is clearly consistent with
what I observed through my professional experience, in which I have identify a lack of knowledge about
CEDAW, specifically for professionals in the social sciences and legal executors, however it seems
necessary to extend it to areas such as art, health or sports. For that reason I think it is very important to
start with my immediate circle, as the women in my family, who are engaged in various areas of art and
health.
According to what I have observed I will also incorporate the model of vocational training as a
preventive strategy for burn out and Vulnerability factors, considering the emotional stress that
professionals are required to deal with. This will allows me to use a legitimate space for this workshop,
because in most government institutions there is a time set aside for self-care activities.
With respect to CEDAW convention the issues being addressed are Contextualization of CEDAW
(Background), Key Concepts (human rights, patriarchy, discrimination, equality) all based in some
articles of the Convention, Concluding observations and Working group report 2014.
With respect to the model of vocational training the issues being addressed are the importance of selfcare, Key concepts and hard evidence.
Taking all into consideration and put together, another issue being addressed is the importance to
identify new tools to work with.
II. Objectives of the project
Purpose of project
To conduct a socio-educational workshop for social sciences and all kind of professionals, from different
areas and institutions in order to review and going deeply into CEDAW.
Who will it benefit?
Professionals and Institutions that should include WHRI in their Work Plan and as well as the people
they carry out their work.
What are the short-term and long-term objectives?
Short-term objectives
Make known CEDAW and WHRI framework to different professionals and areas
Promote CEDAW, as working tool in the context of self-care
Long-term objective
Professionals are able to incorporate CEDAW in its annual work plan, daily work and the systematization
process.
What is the bigger picture you wish to contribute to?
The bigger picture I wish to contribute is to see my colleagues, co-workers, friends and family aware of
CEDAW, able to identify violations of WHRI and implement CEDAW in their daily practice.
List 3 key words that describe the purpose and plan for your project:
III. Expected results of the project
Outcomes
All kind of professionals able to implement CEDAW in their annual action plans. Those are able to
incorporate CEDAW at list in one of its specific objectives or within the systematization process of their
experiences.
IV. Project implementation Overview
This is a project that looks forward to conduct a socio-educational workshop for social sciences and all
kind of professionals, from different areas and institutions in order to review and going deeply into
CEDAW. For its implementation it consists of five stages which will be explained in details below ; 1. To
create promotional material, 2. To Promote the project and contact available networks. 3. To
coordinate the workshop, 4. to conduct the workshop, 5. Monitoring and evaluation.
V. Potential Challenges; Strategies to Overcome them; Contingency Plans
Acceptance
Lack of material and human resources
Low levels of participation
Coordination problems with support networks
V. Potential funding, organizational and institutional support
1. A private company called Arcor- Dos en uno, in its unity of community social responsibility
2. A non-profit foundation working in areas of social vulnerability called Junto al Barrio.
3. The Chilean Family court
4. The ministry of Housing and Urban Development
VI. How will your project enhance women’s leadership skills and roles?
While this workshop is not focused directly on improving the skills and leadership roles of women, I
think that from a socio – educative perspective this workshop will let them know about women's
participation in leadership positions in Chile and abroad, to know the CEDAW articles addressing this
subject (as Article 7,8,11 etc.) and the recommendations that the committee made to Chile in this area.
In order to achieve that the women when making decisions they can incorporate more women in
leadership positions and certain likewise be aware of their right to position themselves in different
spaces.
VII: Project monitoring and evaluation
This issue is addressed through a questionnaire or a group interview (depending on number of
members) to identify the learning acquired.
C: Describe the various components and steps of your project below in greater detail.
The first will be creation of promotional material to prepare a document to briefly explain the project.
Objectives, time of duration and characteristics.
The second step will be to promote the project by contact my networks. While at first my idea was to
make this project through the use of my professional network, I have also decided to use my personal
networks such as my family and friends who are already interested in take part of this workshop.
The third step will be to coordinate the workshop. To hand over the project information document,
agreed time, participants and resources.
The forth step will be to conduct the workshop in the institution or the professional place at its
disposal. For example I would make this workshop some members of my family members at home, but
also in the ministry of planning where my friend architect works.
Finally, to monitoring and evaluate. I will apply a questionnaire or a group interview (depending on
number of members) to identify the learning acquired. Also I will deliver digital material support such
as the CEDAW Document, The Last concluding observations, the Working group rapport 2014, a copy of
one shadow report etc.
