The course include information needed to use therapeutic modalities in a variety of clinical settings. This included leading the lab as needed, assisting the instructor in all lab activities, and giving and grading lab practicals. This course covered the physical therapy treatment of orthopedic conditions in various patient populations. Students learned the principles of physical therapy management using basic physical assessment, therapeutic exercise, and bracing/orthoses/prosthetics for various orthopedic pathologies and populations. Emphasis was placed on the integration of exercise regimes into patient care plans as designed by a physical therapist for a variety of patient populations including geriatric and pediatric. Documentation skills related to the course content area were included. This includes acting as the liaison with the schools that we affiliate with, placing students with appropriate PT’s in our clinic, consulting with PT’s regarding students as needed and helping to design and implement learning experiences for our students.
