THTR 1210 Introduction to Theater Arts / 3 cr.
This course is designed to increase the student's appreciation and understanding of theatre as an art form.
Highlights include an examination of the various artists of the theatre - playwright, director, actor, designer,
technician - as well as the history of theatrical productions. MNTC: 2/6B

OUTLINE OF MAJOR CONTENT AREAS (Course Specific Outcomes)
 Students will define theatre terms and be able to apply these terms to various periods of the history of
theatrical production
 Students will understand and explain the artistic responsibilities of the various artists of the theatre
(playwright, director, actor, designer, and technical)
 Students will develop and appreciation of theatre performance and dramatic literature, and artistic
responsibilities
