UMS Project Highlights for 03-04
Since last year's call for plans Classroom Technology has upgraded
or updated 24 classrooms including 3 large auditoriums, 1 small auditorium,
7 case study rooms. Eighteen rooms received new projectors. The other 6
rooms received Extron control systems.
Video Production has produced Code of the Web Spots, a fund raiser for
B&E, a series of about fifty small packages and one seven minute segment
for the national football championship celebration and the UD Night at the
Grand programs.
Performance Events has supported the most events ever in Mitchell and
Pearson Hall and has produced the Football Celebration and the UD Night at
the Grand live shows.
Six distance learning classrooms were converted to IP network transport
with new video, audio and digital systems designed and implemented in
Georgetown, Newark and Lewes. Major redesign and modification of the
Pearson Hall distance learning facilities was completed with the addition
of a 24 port videoconference bridge, a 128 x 128 input/output router, and
a complete upgrade of studio C. Installation of a videoconference room in
the Chapel Street data center and the media for two smaller conference
rooms was completed. A two-way interactive network for the parallel
program was designed and data links were installed and tested. A high
quality ISDN link was installed in the East Hall studio to support UD
faculty participation in NPR and other radio interviews.
Going forward, slide projectors will no longer manufactured after July 1,
2004. UMS is offering a service to transfer 35mm slides into digital format so
they can be used in PowerPoint and other digital slide formats. Kathy Troutman
([email protected]) is the contact for transferring slides from optical to
digital.
