of government.

Julius Caesar
 Julius Caesar was in control
 Julius Caesar died


Octavian becomes the first Roman Emperor
 Marc Antony and Cleopatra die
 Octavian got the name Augustus which means
“revered” or “honored”
 Octavian formed the Praetorian Guard
 The Praetorian Guard sometimes killed the
emperors it was meant to protect

