Magnesium After Transplant
As a transplant patient, you may develop a low magnesium level in your blood due to
some of your transplant medications. These medications may cause you to have
increased losses of magnesium in your urine. A normal magnesium level in your blood
ranges from 1.5-2.6 mg/dL at UCDMC. If you have a low magnesium level, your doctor
may prescribe a magnesium supplement for you and encourage you to eat foods high in
magnesium.
