Read and Follow Labels
Level I
•This lesson will cover reading the feed label and the
medication label.
•It also stresses the use of keeping current & accurate feed
and medication records.
•We recognize that in keeping with age appropriateness of
Level I, that primary responsibility is that of the parent.
Read and Follow Labels
Learner outcomes:
Participants will be able to:
• Read label instructions for use of feed additives & drugs
• Identify veterinarian/client/patient relationship (VCPR)
• Identify who is responsible for animals in violation of drug
residue or foreign material in the carcass
• Maintain an animal treatment record and feed record
• Identify and track animals to which drugs were administered
• Understand the importance of observing withdrawal times to
avoid marketing adulterated animal products for human
consumption.

genetics, proper management & care
• Recognize what species feed is formulated for and what
the expected outcome of using the medicated feed is
