Spinosaurus Anatomical Terms of Location! “Standard anatomical terms of location are designations employed in science that deal with the anatomy of animals to avoid ambiguities that might otherwise arise.” Anterior Vs. Posterior Anterior – towards the head end Posterior – towards the end opposite the head Dorsal Vs. Ventral Dorsal – towards the spinal cord (back – think dorsal fin) Ventral – towards the belly Lateral Vs. Medial Lateral – towards left/right sides of the body Medial – towards the middle of the body. Superior Vs. Inferior Inferior – Below (as in the legs are inferior to the abdomen) Superior – Above (as in the heart is superior to the intestines) 1.Is your belly button is dorsal or ventral? 1.Is your belly button is dorsal or ventral?
