Smart Parking
an Application of optical Wireless Sensor Network

The Main Idea
• Difficult to find a place to park in Garage
or parking lot!!
• Smart parking directs you to the place
where you can park with no pain 
• It used optical wireless sensors
• It operates by counting the number of
cars entering ,exiting the garage
• It also sense positions where it contains a
parking lot or an empty space or park it
for you depending on the garage system
The Main Achievements
• Lower installation cost (compared to ordinary loops detectors)
• Lower Maintenance cost
• Ease of installation
• Ease of maintenance
• Better accuracy
• Less traffic jam 
The Challenges
• Using Optical sensors they couldn’t say whether the detected object is
a person , car , cat  , or what exactly !!
•They used two sensors with certain spacing in between (space fits a
car & much bigger than a person)
•Entrance point could be exit point , how could they detect whether the
car is entering or exiting !
•Using two sensors they could detect the direction of the car
